Inspector Training Course and Certification Exam fees are:
$999.00 Member (not in Benefit “Self-Pay”) / Retiree in good standing, Or Employees of Employers signatory to a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the IUEC.
$2,500.00 All Others.
Inspector Training Course only fees are:
$800.00 Member (not in Benefit “Self-Pay”) / Retiree in good standing, Or Employees of Employers signatory to a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the IUEC.

Certification Exam only fees are:

Once you achieve Certification, you must maintain that Certification on an annual basis.

Applying for QEITF Inspector Certification is covered in the Certification Handbook. The Certification Handbook is available on our website: www.qeitf.org/certification-handbook. Simply click on the “Certification Handbook” button and the Handbook will be downloaded. A free copy of ADOBE Reader is available if you don’t already have it installed, just click on the “Get Adobe Reader” link and follow the instructions.

Maintenance of Certification fees are as follows:

There are three options available to apply for Inspector Certification and for maintaining your qualifications:

  • Online application (preferred). You may apply online, by following the instructions found on the QEITF websitewww.qeitf.org/qei-applications via the “Online Applications” button.
  • Paper applications are available on our website. Select the “Online Applications” button and scroll down to ‘Paper Applications’ or select the “Forms” button. Select the type of application you want, open it, print it and fill it out. Mail it back to our office, the address and contact information may be found at the top and bottom of each web page.
  • You can also request an application be mailed to you a by calling 1-888-511-3113 ext. 4 between 8:00 AM and 5:00PM EST. If at all possible, we prefer you use the online application.

NOTE: A non-refundable $25.00 administrative fee that will be deducted from the cost of the Inspector Training Course/Certification Exam Package, the Inspector Certification Exam, or the Inspector Training Course and is required upon submittal.

Once you have met all eligibility requirements, you will be notified of the date, place, and time of the next Inspector Certification Examination. There is also a list of future Exam dates on our web-site once you have met all eligibility requirements.

Yes. QEITF offers a 4 day Inspector Training Course that provides instruction on the use of current relevant elevator codes and standards. To enroll from our website: Click on the “Online Applications” button, then click on the link for “QEI Online Applications.” Simply follow the instructions for obtaining a “registration code,” register, then select from the following available options: Inspector Training Course and Exam Package, Certification Exam Only, or Training Course Only.

Note: While training is required, taking the CERTIFICATION TRAINING from QEITF is optional. The CERTIFICATION ASSESSMENT EXAM is developed independently from the preparation course offered by QEITF. The QEITF Certification Council does not recommend or endorse any specific course.

QEITF is the Qualified Elevator Inspector Training Fund.

Yes. QEITF was granted accreditation under ISO/IEC 17024: 2012 by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), to certify Qualified Elevator Inspectors (QEI) to the ASME QEI-1 Standard for the Qualification of Elevator Inspectors on December 27, 2013. Individuals who are currently certified in good standing as elevator inspectors or elevator inspector supervisors and who have successfully completed an examination and earned certification under the QEI-1 Standard offered by an ANAB 17024-accredited certification program may apply for the corresponding QEITF certification.

These individuals must meet the following additional eligibility requirements:

  1. Five (5) years of supervised experience in the elevator trade;
  2. Mechanic certificate issued by the National Elevator Industry Education Program (NEIEP) or equivalent;
  3. Code of Conduct/Ethics attestation;
  4. Passing score on the QEITF QEI-1 assessment.

These individuals must meet all the QEITF maintenance of certification requirements. The certification cycle for maintenance of certification will begin on the day the individual’s application is approved.
