What does the term MAINTENANCE of QUALIFICATIONS mean?
Once you achieve Certification, you must maintain that Certification on an annual basis.

What must I do to MAINTAIN my QUALIFICATIONS?
Maintaining your Certification is covered in the Certification Handbook, Section 6. The Certification Handbook may be found on our website: (www.qeitf.org). Simply click on the “Certification Handbook” button on the “Home Page” and the Handbook may be downloaded. A free copy of ADOBE Reader is also available in this area if you don’t already have it installed on your computer. Just click on the “Get Adobe Reader” link and follow the instructions.


What are the requirements to achieve QEITF INSPECTOR CERTIFICATION?
Applying for QEITF Inspector Certification is covered in the Certification Handbook. The Certification Handbook is available on our website: (www.qeitf.org). Simply click on the “Certification Handbook” button on our “Home Page” and the Handbook may be downloaded. A free copy of ADOBE Reader is available if you don’t already have it installed, just click on the “Get Adobe Reader” link and follow the instructions.

How do I apply for QEITF INSPECTOR CERTIFICATION and where are the applications found?
There are three options available to apply for Inspector Certification and for maintaining your qualifications:
  • Online application (preferred). You may apply online, by following the instructions found on the QEITF website (www.qeitf.org) via the “Online Applications” button.
  • Paper applications are available on our website. Select the “Online Applications” button and scroll down to ‘Paper Applications’ or select the “Forms” button. Select the type of application you want, open it, print it and fill it out. Mail it back to our office, the address and contact information may be found at the top and bottom of each web page.
  • You can also request an application be mailed to you a by calling 1-888-511-3113 ext. 4 between 8:00 AM and 5:00PM EST. If at all possible, we prefer you use the online application.
NOTE: A non-refundable $25.00 administrative fee that will be deducted from the cost of the Inspector Training Course/Certification Exam Package, the Inspector Certification Exam, or the Inspector Training Course and is required upon submittal.


How will I know when I am eligible to participate in the QEITF INSPECTOR CERTIFICATION EXAM?
Once you have met all eligibility requirements, you will be notified of the date, place, and time of the next Inspector Certification Examination. There is also a list of future Exam dates on our web-site once you have met all eligibility requirements.

Does the QEITF offer an INSPECTOR TRAINING COURSE in preparation for sitting for the QEITF INSPECTOR CERTIFICATION EXAM ? (See QEITF Certification Handbook, Section 1, Applying for Certification)
Yes. QEITF offers a 4 day Inspector Training Course that provides instruction on the use of current relevant elevator codes and standards. To enroll from our website: Click on the “Online Applications” button, then click on the link for “QEI Online Applications.” Simply follow the instructions for obtaining a “registration code,” register, then select from the following available options: Inspector Training Course and Exam Package, Certification Exam Only, or Training Course Only.

Where can I find a list of QEITF's INSPECTOR CERTIFICATION TRAINING COURSES, CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES, and EXAM SCHEDULES?
Courses, classes, and examination dates and locations are found on the QEITF website at (www.qeitf.org) via the “Class Schedules” or the “Certification Exam” buttons accordingly.

How soon can I participate in a QEITF INSPECTOR TRAINING COURSE and CERTIFICATION EXAM?
Once you have met the eligibility requirements, you will be notified of the date, place, and time of the next Inspector Training Course and Exam.


Who/what is the “QEITF"?
QEITF is the Qualified Elevator Inspector Training Fund.

Is QEITF an accredited Certifying Organization?
Yes. QEITF was granted accreditation under ISO/IEC 17024: 2012 by the American National Standards Institute, (ANSI) to certify Qualified Elevator Inspectors (QEI) to the ASME QEI-1 Standard for the Qualification of Elevator Inspectors on December 27, 2013. I am already QEI certified by an ANSI accredited organization. Can I transfer my certification to QEITF?
Individuals who are currently certified in good standing as elevator inspectors, and who have successfully completed an examination and earned certification under the QEI-1 Standard offered by an ANSI 17024 accredited certification program may apply for the corresponding QEITF certification and may be exempted from having to take the QEITF certification examination. These individuals must meet all of the QEITF maintenance of certification requirements in order to maintain QEITF certification. The certification cycle for maintenance of certification will begin on the day the individual’s application is approved.
